The private clients for this Kinglsland, Texas lake home sought to replace a small house sited within the 100-year flood plain that had been a backdrop to wonderful family memories for decades. Designed both for casual entertaining on the lake as well as daily living, the home affords ample views and seamless outdoor living facilitated by large sliding glass doors.
Simple design features leverage the modest square footage of the home, such as a bookshelf-lined front entry hall which doubles as a library, an office balcony with a reading nook overlooking the great room below, and large wooden barn doors combining the spaces.
The open stair with clerestory windows streams natural light in from above. Other features include pecan flooring, raw cedar columns, limestone and doug fir rafters.
