Austin Architect, Sinclair Black was recently afforded the opportunity to design a 21st century update to his former family home. In 1972, Black designed a 800 sf addition to a home in the elegant San Antonio neighborhood, Alamo Heights. At that time the formal living room, dining room and 1 bath were restored, and a new family room, entry and kitchen were added along with a master bath with a sleeping loft with powder bath above for grandchildren.

The very funky garage building was widened and raised a few feet and painted to match dark green foliage which dominated the site. The firebox was placed just outside the tall glass wall in order not to block the view out and up into a magnificent stand of cedar elm trees.
