A ten-block master plan for the portion of Guadalupe Street adjacent to the University of Texas is currently in the implementation phase. “The Drag”—as the portion of Guadalupe Street adjacent to the University of Texas is known—is one of the oldest streets in the city and has been a center for student and cultural life since the University’s inception. Black + Vernooy’s master plan for the Drag, produced through collaborative process with the campus community, strives to improve the pedestrian environment and calm vehicular traffic. New trees, lighting and street furniture will enhance student and civilian use of the area.
